Career guidance at the workplace in SME

The consortium celebrated the conquers and success of the project in its final conference held on the 19th of July 2022 e Leça da Palmeira, Portugal!

The event gathered more than 40 professionals representing SMEs, business associations and adult education providers which add the opportunity to deepen their knowledge of career guidance at the workplace and to know and to know some resources and tools to guide companies in promoting it (agenda here).

Following the opening session made by Susana Pimentel from AEP, Nuno Marques Silva from the Neves de Almeida HR Consulting introduced the topic, launching some critical questions for reflection and analysis (presentation here):

  • How to find the balance between organization/leadership and human capital management?
  • What is talent in an organization?
  • How to assure talent management in an organization?
  • How is career management in the organization seen, nowadays?
  • How can a professional build his/her career?

The conference proceeds with the presentation of the project in 2 minutes (this video), the steps done by the consortium and the main contributions from the project in terms of:

  • How can the project contribute to the integration of career guidance practices in SMEs?
  • How can SMEs benefit from entrepreneurial tools?
  • How can SMEs get prepared to integrate the GrowINg approach and its results?

All partners had a voice in this first panel, represented by: Viktorija Triuskaite from DOREA (CY), Thomas Chalatsis from iED (GR), Andreia Monteiro from Mentortec (PT) and Susana Pimentel from AEP (PT).

After the coffee break, the same speakers provided an overview of what was done in the scope of the project. First, a global overview of the project implementation (this video), followed by an analysis per country related to the:

  • Implementation of the capacity building programme for entrepreneurial SMEs (available here)
  • Activities, practices and tools implemented by SMEs
  • Benefits of GrowINg approach and resources to companies and workers
  • Challenges and constraints faced
  • Future of the use of GrowINg resources

Some videos with testimonies or pitches from trainers, workers or representatives from SMEs were also shared.

The conference was closed by Oriana Noronha from AEP, who pointed out some important issues towards the challenges that SMEs will face in the future concerning career and talent management and capacity building of their workers.
